Fuji Nihon, a sugar refiner, has developed “SAYUNOMI,” a Food with Functional Claims containing inulin, a fermentable dietary fiber derived from sugar. Pre-sales began on November 5th via the crowdfunding site Makuake.
This marks the company’s first initiative to sell a product through crowdfunding. The project is scheduled to conclude in mid-December, with rewards expected to be shipped in late December.
SAYUNOMI focuses on the healthy habit of drinking plain hot water (sayu). The product was developed with the aim of achieving “wellness through optimization without adding new tasks to one’s routine.”
The formula includes the company’s proprietary inulin, a Food with Functional Claims. By simply mixing it with hot water and consuming it every morning, it is expected to help improve bowel movements and support skin health, including hydration and elasticity.
The product also features carefully selected ingredients such as domestic lemon powder and ginger powder. A single tablespoon (6.5g) provides a full day’s supply of Vitamins A, C, and E, while gently warming the body from the inside out. It contains no artificial fragrances, preservatives, sweeteners, coloring agents, or caffeine.
While inulin has primarily been used in industrial applications for various products until now, the company aims to “deliver ‘happy days that start from the gut’ to as many people as possible” (Functional Materials Division) through the development and sale of SAYUNOMI for household use.
The funds raised through crowdfunding will be allocated toward clinical trials to verify the health benefits derived from improved intestinal environments, obtaining further evidence, and public relations activities.
