Marubeni Foods has recently concluded a strategic partnership agreement with VINATEA, Vietnam’s largest-scale tea manufacturer, in the areas of developing and producing green tea for the Japanese market. The move responds to the situation surrounding Japanese tea raw materials, where domestic transaction prices are rising and supply-demand conditions remain tight amid the global matcha boom.
VINATEA is Vietnam’s largest-scale tea producer. Privatized from a state-owned enterprise in 2015, it owns extensive tea plantations and advanced processing technology, and manufactures and sells a diverse range of tea leaves.
Marubeni Foods will combine its tea-leaf manufacturing and development technologies and quality-control expertise with VINATEA’s processing technology and supply base to establish a production system meeting the standards required by the Japanese market. It aims to strengthen sales within Japan.
