On the 4th, Nissin Foods announced that it will build the “Tsukubamirai Factory” (tentative name) in Tsukubamirai City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The company will invest approximately ¥70 billion in the facility, which will be dedicated to Cup Noodles and will have production capacity of up to 500 million servings annually. Construction is scheduled to begin in May 2027, with operations planned to start during fiscal 2029.
According to the company, Cup Noodles, which will mark the 55th anniversary of its launch, surpassed 60 billion servings in cumulative worldwide sales last August. In Japan, it has achieved record-high sales for nine consecutive years since 2017. The company decided to build the dedicated factory in order to secure a production system capable of ensuring stable supply going forward.
The new factory will use accumulated expertise to further improve productivity. It also plans to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 10% from the current level through heat-source reuse equipment and lower energy consumption.
The site is located at 76-5 Fukuoka Industrial Park, Tsukubamirai City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The site area is approximately 331,000 square meters, and the factory’s total floor area will be approximately 41,000 square meters.
