Sanwa Shurui Holds “Winemaking Ceremony,” Anticipating a Harvest of High-Quality Grapes

On August 6, Sanwa Shurui held a “Winemaking Ceremony” at its Ajimu Winery to pray for safe winemaking and improved quality for the year. As the first winemaking operation of the year, the company also destemmed and crushed grapes grown in Ajimu for use in its Chardonnay.

With a relatively warm winter and ample sunshine following the end of the rainy season this year, the grapes have grown healthily, raising expectations for a harvest of high-quality grapes. Winemaking operations will continue until around November, with approximately 260 tonnes scheduled to be processed in total. Wines made this year are scheduled to go on sale from next summer onward, although sales of some will begin at the company’s “2026 New Wine Festival,” held from October 31 to November 1.
