From April 10, Lindt & Sprüngli Japan will sell the limited-time “Tenkū no Matcha Kiwami Chocolat Drink” (1,200 yen including tax), made with two varieties of “Tenkū no Matcha” supplied by Shizuoka tea manufacturer Oyaizu Seiichi Shoten, at Lindt Chocolat Boutique & Café locations nationwide. Limited-edition products using “Tenkū no Matcha” have been launched for seven consecutive years since 2020. “Crema Gelata Tenkū no Matcha” (890 yen including tax) will also be launched on the same day.
“Tenkū no Matcha” is matcha finished by Oyaizu Seiichi Shoten using high-quality tea leaves grown in mountainous areas of Shizuoka Prefecture. The trademark was registered in 2019. In the following year, 2020, it was provided for a Lindt drink as the first initiative following its registration.
The “Tenkū no Matcha No. 90” used this time is matcha ground from the first harvest of the rare Okumidori cultivar, and is characterized by strong aroma, umami, and sweetness. “No. 65” uses tea leaves grown in Shizuoka Prefecture and features a rich flavor and well-balanced bitterness. No. 90 is used in the drink base, while No. 65 is used in both the Crema Gelata topping and the standalone item.
This year, in addition to the “Kiwami Chocolat Drink,” Lindt will focus on promoting matcha-based products. On March 30, the company held its first advance tasting event for media, communicating differences in flavor and color depending on the tea-leaf harvesting period.
