Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan (CCBJI) will use portable power stations to power disaster-response vending machines in Ebina City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
On April 23, it concluded a three-party agreement with hardware manufacturer Anker Japan and Ebina City titled the “Agreement on the Provision of Portable Power Stations to Secure Power in Times of Disaster,” with the aim of strengthening disaster response in the city.
Under the agreement, 33 Anker Japan portable power stations will be deployed in stages to approximately 30 evacuation centers, including City Hall, schools, and community centers in the city. During disasters, they will be used to power CCBJI disaster-response vending machines installed at the evacuation centers.
The portable power stations are also expected to be used broadly as emergency power sources at evacuation centers, such as for charging smartphones.
At the signing ceremony held at Ebina City Hall that day were Kenichi Kubo, Senior Director and Head of the Vending Metropolitan Area Sales Headquarters in the Vending Business Management Headquarters at CCBJI; Ebina Mayor Masaru Uchino; and Ayumu Saruwatari, Representative Director and CEO of Anker Japan.
