Otafuku Sauce announced that its local subsidiary, Otafuku Sauce Malaysia, has relocated and newly established a headquarters and factory.
The factory, which obtained Halal certification, began operations on July 1 in Negeri Sembilan, producing sauces, seasonings, and vinegar. The site covers 9,066 square meters and has an annual production capacity of 6,000 kiloliters.
Otafuku Sauce established the local subsidiary in 2016 to manufacture and sell Halal-compliant seasonings, aiming to promote dishes such as okonomiyaki. In the following year, it obtained Halal certification in Malaysia for 16 items. Currently, 90% of its products are for commercial use, supplying Japanese restaurants with the products not only for flour-based dishes but also for formats such as sushi and ramen. The company now manufactures more than 100 items.
While 80% of its sales are domestic in Malaysia, it also exports Halal seasonings to Indonesia, the United Kingdom, and Japan. The company stated, “Through exhibitions and online sales, we will also focus on expansion into the Middle East and Europe.”
The Otafuku Group has set a medium-term plan to increase its overseas sales to 10 billion yen by fiscal 2028. In addition to its factories in the United States (Los Angeles) and China (Qingdao), the new Halal-dedicated Malaysia factory is positioned as a key facility for expanding into Muslim markets.
