AEON Vietnam will hold the grand opening of “AEON Tan An Shopping Center” in Tan An City, Long An Province, on October 4. This marks the company’s first-ever medium-sized shopping center in Vietnam. A soft opening began on September 23 to verify facility operations and customer flow.
At an online press conference held on the 25th, COO Takushi Oizumi emphasized that “Vietnam is the most strategically important market after Japan.” He stated, “We will further accelerate our growth strategy in Vietnam and promote dynamic expansion through a multi-format business model,” outlining plans to enter provincial cities with the development of medium-sized shopping centers and to triple AEON’s store network in the country by 2030.
The new mall, AEON’s eighth location in Vietnam, has a total floor area of approximately 27,000 square meters and houses about 30 specialty stores along with an AEON general merchandise store. Its concept is “Daily Community Park,” designed as an open, nature-integrated space featuring approximately 11,000 trees and holding the “LOTUS NC V3” environmental certification in consideration of sustainability. The facility includes a delicatessen, in-store bakery, fashion retailers, restaurants, and a cinema, serving as a local destination for both everyday shopping and leisure. The parking lot accommodates 270 cars and 935 motorcycles, and the center employs around 1,000 staff.
The target for annual visitors is set at 3.2 million, but strong turnout since the soft opening on September 23 suggests the number may exceed initial expectations. Leveraging Tan An’s stable economic base, well-developed infrastructure, and abundant agricultural resources, AEON also aims to strengthen collaboration with local agriculture and industry—such as through private-brand product development and export-oriented product initiatives.
