Asahi Shuzo will begin shipping its 8% alcohol Junmai Daiginjo sake, “Kobare,” to supermarkets in the Tokyo metropolitan area (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, and Chiba) and Niigata from the 6th.
While preserving the quality-focused sake brewing it has cultivated as the brewer of “Kubota” and “Asahiyama,” the company is taking on the challenge of creating a new kind of deliciousness.
It is newly proposing a slightly luxurious sake that fits into the everyday lives of increasingly diverse lifestyles.
“Kobare” has an alcohol content of 8%, approximately half that of typical sake, which is around 15%.
It is achieved through a dedicated, labor-intensive brewing process. The product balances the lightness unique to its low alcohol content with the aroma and flavor balance characteristic of sake. It features a smooth mouthfeel, a fresh, floral aroma, rice-derived umami, and a subtly sweet finish.
The rice used is Gohyakumangoku, polished to 50%. The price is 620 yen before tax for 300 ml and 1,300 yen before tax for 720 ml.
